Wes’ BL Top 10 List

I have experimented with blended learning for the past year.  I have planned, implemented, evaluated, and revised a blended learning project around graffiti art and vandalism.  I have also coached middle school teachers in planning, implementing, and reflecting on blended learning projects.  I thought it would be fun to reflect on my experiences and learning by creating a BL Top 10 List.  These are things I think are necessary for planning, implementing, and evaluating blended learning.

10. Use technology that is easy for the teacher to use and needs work.

9. Establish a system for keeping track of students’ usernames and passwords.

8. Teach kids how to troubleshoot challenges.

7. Identify a blended learning model that is best suited for your teaching style.

6. Establish expectations for written communication.

5. Integrate Web2.0 tools.

4. Facilitate opportunities for student discussion and peer feedback.

3. Select an LMS as a homebase to organize students’ work, content, and assessments.

2. Provide kids with multiple ways to access content via text, images, audio, and video.

1.Teach students how to be positive digital citizens.
